Deathproof
Jul. 26th, 2007 11:51 pmI started out to hang more online lately, than I did in the last few years. Revisiting old message boards and so on. Problem is, that those are mostly in german, which makes it much more convenient to post there instead of here, where I´m reviewing things more for my own pleasure and to practice my english, while no one I know is reading it anyway.
I wanted to review Deathproof, but since I saw it, I read DH and Will the Vampire People Please Leave the Lobby and want to review them too so now I´m hard pressed to keep up, with my own reading/watching. So for a (short and compact) start:
Deathproof, by Quentin Tarantino
In short: Loved it!
Maybe not as much as Kill Bill, but still enough to get giddily happy afterward, that movies like that are still made.
Kurt Russell was at his coolest since Snake Plisken. The Dialog was great, partly nonsense, fun.
And Oh the car chase! This was so fucking cool, I couldn´t believe it. Zoe Bell was really really awesome, riding atop of that car like a cat. These kind of stunts is just what´s missing in CGI action movies. I was gripping the rails of my seat during these scenes in Deathproof, while I remember that I thought "Oh, I´d so like to read a book right now" during the overlong CGI car chase in Matrix reloaded. The chase in Deathproof just had flesh and soul! That goes for the whole movie. It was just a real good trip to cinema, especially If you are into feet, but that of course goes for all Tarantino movies.
Also Tracie Thoms (Kim) would make a great 355 by the way, should "Y-The Last man" ever get a movie or some such.
I´ll totally watch the second part of the Grindhouse double feature, when it finally finds its way to good old europe.
