Covid 19 - Goodbye and Hello

We were pretty much done, no new cases in over two weeks in my city, for a while there was no case at all. But now wave 2 is here. 5 people in my small town so far and it is getting more everywhere in the country.

Only this time there is zero reaction from politics. We are ruled by a vile populist and closing stuff is no longer popular. They should at least bring back mandatory masks in indoor public spaces but they don't. They just wait for wave 2 to happen and wait if people get scared enough to want more regulations again.They don't dare to damage tourism.

I loathe them. Don't come to Austria on holiday - we are aiming for another superspreader event.

The EU is wise to have banned travel from the U.S. -- I just saw a graph today that was 0.0 in its comparison with other countries.

I think essentially reducing mobility at the moment is a good idea, even between regions.

But it really is everywhere at the moment and you never know when or where the next superinfectious person is going to show up.

It's the same here, except that we never got the first wave under control. So don't come to the UK either.

Unfortunately a friend of mine has to go. His Dad is dying, so he is on his way to Scotland. It's all a terrible mess. His girlfriend is almost 9 months pregnant. I just hope it will all work out for them.

What I hate the most, is that it seems not to be that hard to control. Stick to the masks and reduce indoor gatherings as best as possible. Inform the population on new outbreaks immediately. Do lokal lockdowns fast.

But they don't. People with masks don't shop as much and apparently that's worth a few corpses...

Sorry for your poor friend. On the other hand, if his dad is in Scotland that's better news on the Covid front, as the Scottish government have handled the crisis way better than the English idiots in Westminster. There have been no new cases reported in Scotland for several days now,and there are only ten people currently in hospital with it.

It's amazing how badly so many governments are handling this situation. I'm scared for all of us.

Yes, me too. And our Government was one of those that were handling it well. But now that the measures have become unpopular they don't seem to care anymore.
