Wonder Woman

Finally got to see Wonder Woman today. I had figured that it would not live up to the hype and, well, it did't. Still it was a rather fun movie. I wish, they 'd all stop to put it as if it was the epitome of feminism, though. This is still a movie made mainly to appeal to men.
And it still has most of all that stuff that is wrong about women in mainstream movies.
Buffy was way more on top of it and that was 15 years ago.
Anyway, fun movie. And if it gets little girls to identify with a fighter, who am I to judge.

Date: 2017-06-19 04:32 am (UTC)I think there really have been several badass female lead action movies that I'd regard as more feminist (say the Kill Bills or Death Proof, Strange Days), but on the other hand, WW was also a movie for children and there it is really rare these days that something is overtly feminist and also marketed as such.
I think that is were the movie really does break some walls down. They really advertised it with the female director, feminist message and so on and that is worth a lot. And they have seen now, that marketing an action movie to a female audience can make you a ton of money.
