Thank god the polls held up. Probably means that they will hold up in the run off too.

I know a lot of people are shocked that LePen is in the run off, but it was like that in all the polls and she was often predicted to win the first round. And anyhow coming from Austria I'm happy if the Putinpuppet isn't 10% above the predictions.

So, well done, France, keep it up.

Am I wrong in my English analysis of things, or is Macron a Thatcherite?

Hard to say, he was part of the socialist government, but he certainly is on the right on economics.

Not as right wing as Thatcher though (would be very difficult in France). More like Merkel probably.

Not my choice candidate (that would have been Melenchon) but sure better than the alternative and somehow he managed to sell himself as not part of the establishment (though he most certainly is at the centre of it)

Whoo. I hope I'm correct in thinking that people who voted for Fillon or Melenchon are more likely to vote for Macron than Le Pen in the runoff.
