Guilty Pleasures

This time I'll just post to DW first!

With all the analysing my brain on my own reading habits for the story level post I came upon a few odd things about my reading habits. What I think is really quality reading might not necessarily be what I read the most. I just decluttered one of my bookshelves (and how come, have now a ginormous box of books to give away, but barely half a meter free space. Must be the Lovecraft's messing up the laws of physics) and found an incredible lot of junk, not all of which I was able to get rid of.

So I was wondering what kinds of books are you reading, that you know are bad in so many ways but still terribly enjoyable? What makes them bad? And what makes you read them anyway?

Heh, you know, I hardly ever read for fun anymore, so I tend not to read "bad" or guilty pleasure books. It's just a matter of prioritization - if I only can read so many books, I want them to be really good. I mean, sometimes I hit a real clunker (like The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), but I don't pick them knowing they're bad.

I do feel guilty sometimes that I haven't read more classics, though. I keep thinking I should do something about that, but... no time.

It's pretty much the same with me, though I still own a lot of old guilty pleasure books that I can't really be parted from.

Also I usually listen to audiobooks while I'm working out or doing other boring things like housecleaning and there I'll pretty much listen to anything. It's how I "read" the Larson books and also the Sookie Stackhouse novels.

I am sort of in limbo with my book collection, because I don't have much shelf space here. I have about two shelves of books for fun and two for textbooks/papers, and the rest of my books are still at my parents' house.

I really had to prioritize what I wanted to take with me, and a lot of the guilty pleasure stuff got left at home - so it doesn't feel like I can't be parted from them, since they're not here, but at the same time, I didn't have to actually get rid of them, either. :)

Hee :) The ones I threw out yesterday are going to stay in the family too, I let my nephew have his pick and the rest goes to my parents house.

I' m physically incapable to through books away. Even that horrid Twilight novel I had to drop of at a second hand book store.

I read Left Behind a while back. That was fun. Utter shit pseudo-fascist antisemite revenge fantasy, but so utterly stupid it's hilarious.

Hee, I know the sentiment, it's what got me to read Twilight and to get addicted to TWOP reviews of 7th heaven.
