Ok, I read on various journals on my flist that the popular interests list is censored. This of curse sucks and I was with everyone for striking on Friday to make a statement.  Then I read on [livejournal.com profile] kita0610's journal that the missing interests (fanfiction, porn, yaoi etc.) are back and tried for myself here. And back they are, so I write the whole incident off as annoying but over.

There is the other issue about the no longer available basic accounts. This is regrettable but i can understand it as a business decision, so it doesn't bother me that much, that I would want to strike.

So, are there still reasons for the strike, that I missed somehow? Should we still do it?

ETA: Just read this interview, so now I think we should.

Really, I don't think so -except maybe to protest about the fact that LJ is definitely dumb in the communication area... Yes, I do regret basic accounts too, but a one day strike is nothing against an economic issue. The fact that this strike takes place on a Friday, which is usually one of the quietest days on LJ, doesn't make much sense either...

But hey, as usual I could be wrong ;)

Yep, I agree, they could really do better with the communication but otherwise I don't see a real reason any longer. So I guess, I'll not strike unless I hear something convincing.

Even if I still think that a one day strike doesn't much, after reading Nosik's interview

Just read this interview (http://users.livejournal.com/woman_of_/362032.html?#cutid1)

What a charming guy. Convinced me that it still is a good idea.

I read that well before I made my decision. I think you should also read this though: http://furiosity.livejournal.com/472399.html for balance.

Whether the guy is a dickhead or no, I shall not be participating in a strike that is badly timed, planned and has no clear goals.

I've read a lot about the whole issue today and I'm still torn. At the moment I think I'll participate, mostly out of solidarity and because I think that this is likely that there are more unpleasant things ahead. So it might be good if the users show that they care about what the management does to the site and that they can cause a major stirrup, even if I don't think that the strike will accomplish any of its immediate (and partly dubious) goals.
I still think LJ is a pretty nice place and I woulds very much like to stay here.

But as blurry as things are, I can understand everybody who decides not to participate.

The whole thing gets weirder and weirder and involves eating babies now...somehow it makes me care less and less.

Exactly.

I'll be the fight to come out fighting if it's something I believe is worth fighting for, but this so, so isn't. All that'll happen is that they'll take a tougher line with pushing though changes in the future.

Here is the man in his own words. I think I'll wait and see.
