Hi adorable flisty people! I'm contemplating posting my first all alone multipart story with an actual plot and everything. It's pretty much all plotted out by now, but there were some questions I was asking myself during the process and it made me wonder what all of you would say to them and how you prefer your fanfic.[Poll #1247604][Poll #1247604]

Sex should be natural. If it needs to be there, then it should be. Graphic sex is fine, but should say something about the characters or story too.

OCs can be great as long as they occupy supporting roles, are there to drive the plot for the main characters or are there to shed new light on main characters. People aren't reading fanfic to find out what happens to your OC.

As long as there is a believable reason for it, go for your threesome!

Threesomes are fine if they are reached naturally. Unless they are all vampires, folks just dont hop in bed with each other in groups.

It depends on the threesome really, while the villian, depends on how canon you are being, but I would love the mayor to make a comeback

On original characters - I love 'em, I create 'em, I write 'em. It's true that many fan writers aren't very good at original characters - but how the heck will they learn to do better if they never write any? I'm never gonna tell someone not to do OCs, even if I end up cringing as I read about them.

I'd never tell anyone not to write OCs either, though I would always advise them to start slowly, with small cameos, as that way they are far more likely to avoid the Sue trap.

I'll be looking out for your story, based on you li'll questions here it seems like it could be interesting.

I tend to want to go against the grain and push the envelope, so I'm all for romantic relationships with more than two people involved. Not that group-sex is a more interesting read than the "regular" kind (because it really isn't) but I am always happy to see someone challenge the concept that only two people can be in love and make it work.

Oh yes, Ethan was brilliant. By know the villains of this story are already chosen, but sooner or later he'll have to make an appearance.
I think Fred would be hard to villainize, unless something really turned her insane.

I'm pretty much with you on the sex thing. I'm still undecided, how many of the sex scenes I wrote for my own amusement I'll leave in the final story. I neither want it to take over the stage nor do I want to cut too much, where it adds to the fun.

When I first started to write on this, I did not have that much experience with fanfic. In retrospective I found that one of the OCs took over too much so I reduced the part drastically. I'm still unsure if I got it right, but I hope so.

I hope the threesome turned out believable, it'll take the story forever to reach that point though, I'm afraid. But a real shippy threesome is something I wanted to read so badly that I had to try it.

You're the first fandom writer that comes to my mind when I think of cool original characters.

I had a two pretty important OCs in the story when I first started to write on this, but in retrospective I made a lot of beginners mistakes with those characters, so I reduced them drastically.
I still kept them and I like to have a few OC's (or nearly unmentioned folks from the show fleshed out). It's a thin line but you're right, not trying wont make me any better at it.

That's good advice I think. I found that less is often more in that respect. I'm still unsure,if it'll work out in the current version.

Thank you! I'm all nervous and excited about it, since it's my first long term project.

That's what makes the threesome idea so interesting to me. I think to find real balance between three people must be so incredibly much harder than it is for two (and it's hard enough there).

Original character? Well, I think that depends on the character itself. I actually never really read one with it, so...

I like threesome but only if it m/m/m. I couldn't bear one with fem mix.

Cordelia will be good I guess. I never really like her anyway.
