Gunn got corrupted. Maybe the magic reversal makes him so unnaturally interested in being the good guy.
Interesting idea. I wish we knew more about Gunn.
OTOH, I noticed that on BtVS the attitude to vampires became more relaxed. In issue 13 Dracula is Buffy's ally against "really bad" vampires. Relatively good vampire Gunn could be another concession to fans' desire to see vampires as complex and tormented as humans.
